How much video will fit on one DVD?
Up to 2 hours of video can be transferred for standard DVD quality. Shorter tapes of similar subject matter can be combined to consolidate video footage.
Do you edit out blank sections on a tape?
Yes, standard transfer includes editing to remove blank sections of tape for continuous video footage. More complex editing of scenes is available on request.
What brand of DVD do you use to transfer videotape to?
We use premium quality Taiyo Yuden brand DVD-R format with a waterproof glossy surface, custom printed with the subject title of the original tape.
Will I be able to view the DVD on my TV?
Yes, the DVD-R format is the most widely compatible format for playing on a standard DVD player. The DVD will also play on a computer with at DVD-Rom drive.
Can I make copies of the DVD on my own to give to family members?
Yes, you cam make copies on your own with the appropriate software and hardware. Otherwise we offer copies for $5.00 per additional DVD.
Can I edit the video on my own once it is transferred?
Yes, it is possible to extract the video file from the DVD using free software and then edit the file. The specific software depends on if you are using a PC or Mac operating system.
What kind of quality can I expect?
Transfer quality depends on the tape format, age of the tape, environment the tape has been stored, recording speed, or if the tape is a master or copy. The best quality transfer is one that is done now!
What is your average turn around time for video transfer?
The turn around time may vary based on the size and complexity of your video project, but the average time is 1-2 weeks.
