Option 1 - Scanning Only

High Resolution Scanning - No Post Scan Image Corrections
Digital transfer of slides in the original condition, without cropping or editing. Includes rotating for correct orientation. The images can then be transferred to a computer for viewing or retouching using image editing software. This may be a good option for those who are skilled with digital image editing and prefer to make post scan corrections on their own.

Option 2 - Includes Photoshop Enhancement

Includes Manual Image Enhancements using Adobe Photoshop CS4
Cropping, Color Restoration, Exposure Correction, Red Eye Removal, and Digital Correction of Blemishes. The unedited scans are also included to preserve the original image integrity before cropping and editing for true digital archival purposes. Sample Slide Scans

Customized Image Directories
You may prepare your slides in any order you want and in the original packaging, including carousels, boxes, etc. Subject groupings will be placed in a folder by that name on the storage disc to help keep your images organized. If your slides are not in any particular order now, you may find it easier to organize the digital images after scanning rather than before scanning. The choice is up to you.

Multi-Media Resolution Files
In addition to the full size resolution files (best for archival & printing) you also receive a set of your images downsized to a resolution best suited for multi-media uses such as email, slideshows, screensavers, and general computer uses. This helps to make your new digital images even more user friendly.

Slide Scanning FAQ
Why should I consider having you scan my slides instead doing it on my own? There are consumer grade scanners for you to do your own scanning, but you should consider the cost of equipment vs. quality output. Also, don't underestimate the amount of time involved to do it yourself. It is likely to be more cost effective to have the work done professionally for the best quality and least frustration. What type of scanning equipment do you use for scanning slides? Nikon Coolscan 9000 dedicated film scanners, highly regarded for producing excellent quality scans. What image editing software do you use for post scan enhancements? Adobe Photoshop CS4. Post scan editing includes cropping for clean edges, color & exposure correction, red eye removal, and digital correction of spots or scratches. The original, unedited scans are also included in processing to preserve original image integrity for true archival purposes. How will you organize the digital files on the disc? The image files on the disc will be organized in the way you provide the originals. Image directories are customized with titles of subject groupings. If your photos aren't organized now, you may find it easier to organize them digitally after scanning than physically before scanning. The choice is up to you. Can I view the images you put on CD / DVD on my TV? In order to view pictures on TV with a DVD, the images must be made into a DVD Slideshow Video format which plays the same way a DVD movie works. With this option, background music can be added and you can navigate to pause on an image or go forward and back. The cost for this option is $.10 per image without background music or $.25 per image includes music - either you provide or royalty free instrumental music will be used. (Note: Some DVD player models are compatible with reading jpeg images on a data CD - this is the most basic way to view images on a TV. There is no extra cost to provide a CD with TV resolution jpeg images) What is the difference between a CD and a DVD? Both a CD and a DVD can be used for data storage with the only difference being the storage size of the disc. A CD will hold up to 650MB of data, while a DVD holds 4.37GB. In order to access the images from a data DVD on a computer, you will need to have a DVD-Rom drive in your computer. Can I make prints from the images you give me on CD or DVD? Yes you can, either from home or your preferred printing service. How many images will fit on a CD or DVD? As a general rule, around 300 will fit on a CD and up to 2000 can fit on a DVD. Can I give you a hard drive to transfer my scans to instead of a CD or DVD? Yes, you may provide an external hard drive, a USB thumb drive, SD card, etc. There is no additional charge for the file transfer if you provide a hard drive. Otherwise it is $3.00 for transfer to CD or $5.00 for DVD. Do I need to remove slides from carousels or magazines? It's up to you, but you do not need to. There is no additional charge to remove and replace slides from carousels or magazines. Do I need to count the exact number of slides before sending them to you? No, there is no need to do so. Prepayment for scanning is not required. The number of images and your invoice will be totalled once all work is completed. Do I get my slides back? Yes, and in the same groupings you provided them in.
