Photos are Scanned using Epson V700 Photo Scanners for Excellent Quality Images
Be aware that some companies use automatic feeders to scan your photos, resulting in lower quality images. Others have operations outside the U.S., compromising potential risk of damage or loss.
Customized Subject Folders
If you prepare your photos in labeled subject groupings, they will be scanned and stored on the disc organized by subject folders. It works well to separate groups of photos in plastic ziploc bags or paper envelopes. If your photos are not in any particular order now, you may find it easier to organize the digital images after scanning rather than before scanning. The choice is up to you.

Photo Scanning FAQ
Why should I consider having you scan my photos instead doing it on my own?
There are consumer grade scanners for you to do your own scanning, but you should consider the cost of equipment vs. quality output. Also, don't underestimate the amount of time involved to do it yourself. It is likely to be more cost effective to have the work done professionally for the best quality and least frustration.

I have a large collection of photos I would like to have digitized. Where should I start?
One option is to have your photos all scanned and then organize them digitally by creating subject folders to drag and drop images into. If your photos are already organized, you may provide them in groupings with a title name for each group. When they are scanned, a titled folder will be created and all images will be scanned into that folder on the disc. If you have a large collection, often times it works well to have them scanned in batches to help break down your overall project.

What image editing software do you use for post scan enhancements?

Adobe Photoshop CS5. Post scan editing includes cropping for clean edges, color & exposure correction, red eye removal, and digital correction of spots or scratches. The original, unedited scans are also included in processing to preserve original image integrity for true archival purposes.

How will you organize the digital files on the disc?
The image files on the disc will be organized in the way you provide the originals. Image directories are customized with titles of subject groupings. If your photos aren't organized now, you may find it easier to organize them digitally after scanning than physically before scanning. The choice is up to you.

I have some old photo albums with the photos glued on the pages. Do I have to remove the photos from the page or will you do that?
It is best to leave photos attached with glue to pages as they are to prevent potential damage in removing and to retain the original layout. Instead, we will scan the photos directly from the page without removing them.

Can I view the images you put on CD / DVD on my TV?
In order to view pictures on TV with a DVD, the images must be made into a DVD Slideshow Video format which plays the same way a DVD movie works. With this option, background music can be added and you can navigate to pause on an image or go forward and back. The cost for this option is $.25 per image. (Note: Some DVD player models are compatible with reading jpeg images on a data CD - this is the most basic way to view images on a TV. There is no extra cost to provide a CD with TV resolution jpeg images)

What is the difference between a CD and a DVD?

Both a CD and a DVD can be used for data storage with the only difference being the storage size of the disc. A CD will hold up to 650MB of data, while a DVD holds 4.37GB. In order to access the images from a data DVD on a computer, you will need to have a DVD-Rom drive in your computer.

Can I make prints from the images you give me on CD or DVD?

Yes you can, either from home or your preferred printing service.

How many photos will fit on a CD or DVD?
This varies depending on the original photo size and scanning resolution. As a general rule, around 200-400 images will fit on a CD and 1000-2000 will fit on a DVD.

Do I need to count the exact number of photos before sending them to you?

No, there is no need to do so. Prepayment for scanning is not required. The number of images and your invoice will be totalled once all work is completed.

Do I get my photos back?
Yes, and in the same groupings you provided them in.
