How should I prepare my negatives for scanning?
You may leave negatives in the original film envelopes or sleeves and they will be scanned in the groupings provided. Subject & date information is also translated digitally with customized image file directories.
What film formats do you scan?
We scan formats ranging from standard 35mm and medium format to the multi-formats of past decades, both color and black and white.
What resolution do you scan negatives?
High resolution is standard for increased flexibility for cropping and enlargement. Standard resolution is 3000dpi for most formats but specific resolution can be accommodated on request.
What type of scanners do you use to scan slides?
We use the Nikon Coolscan 9000 dedicated film scanners, highly regarded for producing excellent quality. Digital ICE infrared technology is used to aid in dust and scratch removal on color film.
Do you offer restoration for color, exposure, red eye, etc?
Yes, manual corrections with Adobe Photoshop CS5 are optional for best quality results. The original unedited scans are also preserved for true digital archival.
How will I receive the digital images you create?
Your JPEG digital image files will be stored on a Taiyo Yuden Premium Archival DVD-R. Image folders will be organized and custom titled by subject.
What can I do with the digital images I receive from you?
Once digitally preserved, the door of possibilities opens: Photobooks / Prints / DVD Slideshows / Email Photos / Galleries / Digital Photo Frames / Distribute Copies to Family. Most of all… enjoy the memories!
I have a large collection of negatives I want scanned. Where should I start?
Try breaking the collection down into major subjects or time periods. If your collection is not organized, you may find it easier to organize the digital images than physical negatives.
How long have you been in business? Will my film be safe with you?
